This award is given to member companies with the lowest total recordable incident rates (TRIR) based on a quarterly injury and illness survey conducted by the Association.

Weak Demand Drags Down Baltic Index
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, fell to its lowest in nearly three months on Wednesday on weaker demand across all vessel segments. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, was down 15 points, or 1.58 percent, at 934 points - its lowest level since early March. The capesize index lost 52 points, or 3.05 percent, at 1,654 points.

Inmarsat (ISAT.L) has made available five Fleet One units to a pilot initiative that aims to bring change to the way ships connecting island communities in the Pacific archipelago of Vanuatu communicate. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) endorsed capacity-building pilot program is the result of cooperation between the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) and the Government of Vanuatu under the leadership of the Ambassador of Vanuatu to the IMO.
Nor-Lines, Rolls-Royce Sign Service Agreement
Nor Lines and Rolls-Royce have signed a âPower-by-the-Hourâ service agreement for the two vessels Kvitbjørn and Kvitnos. The new service offering harnesses the power of âbig dataâ to monitor, plan and perform maintenance and repairs on all the equipment it has installed on the cargo vessels. Power-by-the-Hour is a completely new service from Rolls-Royce Marine, and the agreement with Nor Lines is the first of its kind.
Hapag Lloyd Completes Merger with UASC
German shipping line Hapag Lloyd and Arab sector peer UASC have completed a delayed merger which creates the world's fifth-biggest shipping company. The German company said on Wednesday that the deal to combine the two businesses, announced in April 2016 and sealed in July last year, has closed and been listed in commercial registers as of May 24, including a capital increase of 45.9 million euros.
