Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

August 11, 2011

This Tuesday, Zhejiang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., an affiliate to Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, held the delivery and naming ceremony for global lead vessel PX105, a ship built for Bourbon Offshore Norway. The company leaders and the ship owner’s representatives attended this grand ceremony, where PX105 was named the BOURBON FRONT. As an offshore support vessel designed by Ulstein, PX105 features an overall length of 88.8M, breadth of 19M, depth of 8M, DWT of 4400T, and maximum speed of 15.5 knots. The ship’s shape integrates Ulstein’s X-BOW design concept, and it features a set of retractable and all-direction propellers and super-silent shrouded propellers at the bow.

Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
