July 25, 2007

Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc., operator of a fleet of dry bulk ships, agreed to buy 26 Supramax vessels for $1.1b from the parent of Anemi Maritime Services, a private Greek shipping company, more than doubling Eagle's fleet to 49. Eagle expects to receive the ships between 2008 and 2012. It said 21 of the 26 have long-term charters up to 2018, with minimum revenue from the charters of $1b Supramax dry bulk vessels range in size from 50,000 to 60,000 deadweight tons and transport a broad range of major and minor bulk cargoes; including iron ore, coal, grain, cement and fertilizer, along worldwide shipping routes.
