Port of LA Shows Increase in Cargo Volumes

The Port of Los Angeles has released its May 2011 cargo volumes. Compared to May 2010, import volumes were up 5.49 percent while exports climbed 14.73 percent. The volume of empty containers decreased by 20.86 percent. Overall, total monthly volume was .51 percent higher in May 2011 compared to the same period in 2010. For calendar year 2011 (five months), overall volumes have increased 6.58 percent compared to the same period in 2010.
