Rigid Wingsail Retrofit Successfully Completed Aboard Bulk Carrier
Topic, TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and OceanWings announced the successful completion of OceanWings rigid wingsail installation aboard the Ultramax bulk carrier MARIA TOPIC. Retrofitted at TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING in Japan, the vessel now returns to commercial service, marking a milestone in OceanWings' commercial deployment and in the adoption of wind-assisted propulsion for merchant shipping.The successful retrofit demonstrates that rigid wingsail technology can be successfully integrated into an operating merchant vessel.
Cavotec to Retrofit Container Vessels for Shore Power
Cavotec has signed an order valued at USD$8.02 million (EUR 7 million) with a global container shipping company to retrofit vessels for shore power.The order covers the retrofit of low- and medium-voltage container vessels with shore power technology. The retrofitting work will be carried out while the vessels remain in operation. The order was signed in the second quarter 2026 and delivery is expected during 2026.With this order means, the customer has selected Cavotec to equip a total of 24 container ships with shore power during 2025 and 2026.
LR Certifies R/V Prince Madog Hydrogen Fuel Cell Retrofit
The UK-flagged research vessel Prince Madog has received certification for a hydrogen fuel cell retrofit, following approval by Lloydâs Register (LR) under its ShipRight Risk Based Certification (RBC) framework.
