Russian Ship Saves Sinking Ship's Crew

Fire broke out on a Syrian ship in international waters off Cyprus, forcing its crew to evacuate before the vessel sank early on Monday, authorities in Cyprus said. Search and rescue coordinators said they had received distress signals from the Syrian-flagged Ahssan II on Sunday night that the ship was burning 62 nautical miles (115 kilometers) southeast of Larnaca. A Russian vessel in the vicinity responded to radio appeals for aid and saved the ship's crew. All 10 were reportedly picked up.
