Violation of Ocean Dumping Act Charged

 The US Attorney for the District of Oregon issued a news release stating that a terminal operator has been charged with violation of the Ocean Dumping Act. It is alleged that the terminal operator had off-specification potash loaded on a freighter and dumped at sea in order to avoid the costs of proper disposal. The expected monetary penalty is $240,000.
